Upcoming Bozeman Climbing Events

Just got back from back from Cascade Creek where I put up a couple really, really good V4s.  One vertical/techy (“Four is Cosmic”), the other steep, thuggy and pumpy (“Fire in the Hole”).  I got vids of both so hopefully I’ll get around to posting it up soon.  Anyways there’s quite a few climbing related events coming up in Bozeman that I thought I’d share:

-Reel Rock Film Tour, Friday 7:00PM at the Emerson.  It’s looks pretty good. Ueli Steck is an animal.  Watch the trailer and you’ll see what I mean.

-The Tour de Hyalite, Sat Sept. 25th.  If you enjoy climbing after running fifteen mile to a peak this is the event for you.  More info on the facebook event page here.  Depending on the weather it can range from a fun trail run to epic.  One of the more epic years:

-Lastly, there will be a Five Ten shoe demo at Spire Climbing on Wednesday, September 29th.  It’s seems like Five Ten usually brings the full arsenal, so if you want to try some on that’ll be a great time to.

Lost Horse Festival 2010

Headed out to the Lost Horse Climbing Festival over the weekend with a bunch of other Bozemaniacs.  Good times were had by all.  Brandon, Jarred and I even got a tour of the some of the goods up at Lolo thanks to local Sam Johnson.  Instead of too many specifics I’ll just say that everybody sent a lot of stuff (except for me at Lolo…).  Plus, y’all just want pictures anyway, right?  Here you go.

Holmer, Pat and Brandon showing the sequence on one of my favorite problems of all time, Montana Meathook V5 at Lost Horse.  All 3 flashed it with ease.

Lastly, here’s a little vid that I shot Friday night of myself on MT Meathook.  I did it this spring pretty quickly so I was a little worried when I couldn’t even pull onto the wall at first.  Once I warmed up it went a little easier:

Cascade Creek

Jarred, Ho and I went up to Cascade Creek (aka Lava Lake) Saturday morning/afternoon.  It ended up being our most productive day there so far.  We put up 8 new lines ranging from V0 slab to V9 dyno.  The V9 was one that Ho basically did last trip out, but he couldn’t top it out because of rain.  Jarred also sent a couple of the established goodies such as “Space Ghost”  and “Lava Lunge SDS”.

Jarred on a new sloper problem:

Jarred trying another possibly new problem that Ho did.  There were some lower holds that were definitely previously cleaned on this one, but it’s hard to tell if it was ever topped out.

Video of Holmer sending “Space Ghost” (last week) and Ho on his new unnamed V9:

Lastly, I hope everyone is going to the Lost Horse Climbing Festival, it’s gonna be fun!  Lost Horse has some of the finest bouldering in the state so even if you’re not competing it’s still a blast.  See ya’ there!
