Looks like fall is coming to an end and winter is arriving as I type this. 63 to -6 in two days, gotta love Montana! Can’t complain too much since it was a pretty damn nice fall that lasted a little longer than we normally hope for. Here’s some photos from all around Southwest Montana:
Lucky Strike near Homestake Pass (Batholith)
Moonshine Boulder (New World Gulch)
Yankee Jim
The Angel Boulders (Tobacco Roots)

Hey Eric, I’m planning a trip out to cody to explore some of the bouldering and I’ve heard that the guide by Mike Snyder is out of print. Any chance you would have some beta our know where a guide might be available? Thanks. -Greg
Yeah, I think that guide has been out of print for a couple years now. There’s a slim chance Spire has a copy left, but I think they’re out. I’m pretty sure they have a not for sale copy at the front desk that you could look through. There’s also some beta on MountainProject. I don’t think there’s many problems listed, but there’s beta for a hand full of classics and the directions will get you to the main areas on Cedar Mountain. If it’s colder or snowy, on the other side of the highway are the Sphinx Boulders (http://www.mountainproject.com/v/rattlesnakesphinx/108389369). They get blasted with sun and are a much better option in the winter. There’s no problems listed in MoPro, but as long as you have the parking/hiking directions the boulders are obvious. Have fun!

Thanks! May head out this weekend if it looks like the weather well be decent.
