Glad to beat the rain, hail and lightning and get an ascent of another quality Rushmore boulder.Great week with a great crew. Another one in the books.A little different perspective on a Batholith classic.Passed through Colorado on the way home and found some dry classics!Went to this one on my last day in Hueco expecting a daily dose of failure like every other day on it. Tried the shoeless beta as a hail Mary option and was rewarded a daily dose of something else entirely.It’s often known as a consolation prize instead of Free Will but I think it’s a pretty darn nice line in its own right.SW MT Blocs on Facebook

Bouldering Montana 
is “the optimist” the same as “optimism”? Pics look great
It’s kind of the same. The line that David is trying in the photo is the original line of the Optimist, which is V9-ish. From the start hold, it goes up and left to the left arete, then slaps up the prow. The new beta method, going straight right from the start hold is what most people have done lately. To me, they’re different enough lines and holds that I think they’re seperate problems. Most people have been calling it Optimism lately too.
